What do I need to start a floor project?
Bring measurements of your room or rooms. Some customers find making a basic drawing of the areas helpful. Your measurements don't have to be exact; before installation one of our craftspeople will come to you and measure accurately to find out exactly what you'll need.
Bring patterns you like, color palettes you're thinking of, swatches, and be ready to have fun while saving money!
What should I consider when deciding which floor or floor covering is right for my room?
Consider how you want to use the room. Is it a formal foyer? A room for the family to relax? The place where kids run and play?

Is vacuuming too often bad for carpet?
Vacuuming well and regularly is the most important thing you can do to keep your carpet beautiful, preserve its color, and help it last. If you remove the dirt and soil from the surface, it never gets a chance to work its way deeper into the carpet where it can damage the fibers.
We also recommend professional cleaning by hot water extraction once a year.
Solid Wood.Engineered Wood.Laminate.What's the difference?
Solid wood floor planks are made from one piece of wood and are generally ¾ inch thick. Engineered wood floors are also made from actual hardwood, but consist of several plies laminated together. Laminate flooring consists of several layers that provide a wood, slate or tile appearance.
What do you recommend for removing stains from carpet?
First, scoop up as much of the spill as possible. Then blot, do not rub, the area with a clean white towel. If needed, apply warm, not hot, water to the area and blot again. If the stain is still there, try a mixture of ¼ tsp clear dishwashing liquid to 1-cup warm water.

What should I use to clean my hardwood floor?
For routine cleaning, just dust mop your hardwood floors. You can use a damp, not wet, mop or cloth when needed. Don't get your floor wet, because wood is susceptible to warping. Protect the floors at your entranceways with mats.
What's the latest trend in rugs and carpeting? How about wood? What's new?
The rules in rugs and carpeting - there are no rules. The newest trend is bright, bold color, unusual texture and inspired patterns. It's no wonder our rugs and carpets are referred to as art for your floor.
Exotic Hardwoods are the newest thing in wood flooring. Wood species from all over the world provide new colors, textures and grain patterns. Ask your design consultant how to incorporate exotic wood into your décor to add drama and elegance.

How important is quality padding?
Very important. The right padding helps your carpet feel richer, thicker, warmer, absorb sound more efficiently, and last longer. Investing in a good under layer keeps your carpet looking new longer, and working at peak efficiency for years to come.
I've heard when you're redecorating a room, you should start with the floor. Why?
Your floor represents one third of your decorating surface. Start by building your décor from the ground up. This is your foundation and can create a mood/feeling for the room (It's easier and less expensive to repaint than to re-carpet if you change your mind.)
You can use the color ideas from the rug or carpet to complement your wall colors and upholstery.
Many manufacturers' sites have features that allow you to "try on" carpet, furniture and wall colors virtually. Visit the sites and experiment. Have fun!

Clear off the tops of all your furniture and remove delicate objects. Our installers are extremely careful and will move the furniture for you. We'll move it all back in place when we're finished. |
